Title: Alternative for RAV anti-virus
Post by: Alex Schaft on July 22, 2004, 04:29:33 PM
Hi,

I've been running RAV quite happily for the past two years, but my license is about to expire, and they don't appear to be selling any more renewals.

I've tried the clam/amavis approach, but messages kept getting stalled in unpack folders, and never being sent.

Are there any other alternatives, free or paid?

Currently on SME 5.6, but upgrading Real Soon Now

The Pattern matching contrib will catch 99% of viruses in attachments, just have clamavis-ng (from pagefault.org) installed to catch any new ones that slip through.
Your problem may no longer exist as clamavis-ng will have very little to do.

We swapped over from RAV to BitDefender and did initally miss some of the features of RAV, but now am running it very happily and have been for the last 9 months.

Also the service and support from both Darrell May and SoftWin have been outstanding!
