Title: Stupid password (shadow file) case
Post by: tiff on August 09, 2004, 08:23:56 PM
Hello folks.
For beginning - yes, i'm stupid, fool and other stuff.
But anyway.
Situation is that i deleted the shadow files and copied a new ones to etc folder.
After reboot i can't log in neither as root or any other user.

Is there any quicker way to get in than reinstall ?
Would the crtl-X in login-screen & single mode help ?

Can i do anything remotely ?
I'm thankful for any response from local wiseguys...

Only way I can think of would be to boot a live CD running mepis (or another CD based distro) and correct the error.

ftp://ftp.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/mepis/released/

OK I did it in my way.
Started in single mode user and then switched back an old shadow file.

Thanks for response anyway.
