Has anybody applied SP2 to an XP Machine yet. I'm interested to know if there were any new authentication problems, SMB problems, etc after applying SP2 running behind SME.
-
I applied it at home.....
My machine is so secure now - it won't boot to Windows at all.
I get the blue screen of death -and then the system reboots - fortunately I have Linux on the same system - so I haven't lost any data.

I tried a test box. So secure, that only windows starts. C++ compiler quit with error, faxsoftware won't start, whole user-profile blown away. Not recommended.

I installed XP SP-2 with no problems. All applications work so far. Using Office 2003 SP-1. No problems to report concerning SME 6.0.1-01 connectivity.

I should have added that I have a Server Only environment with 4 XP/W2k PC's. Not much but the XP with SR-2 works on SME 6 very well.

Hi All,
I have been running XP with SP2beta for a couple of months now and the only problem I have had is with a Planet print server on the network, I can't connect to the printers on it with the XP firewall enabled. I have tried all configurations to no avail, so I have disabled it on the theory that my SME server will be a suffiecent firewall, otherwise it looks good as far as security goes etc. I will try the released version soon and report back.
Regards,
Del :-)

Put SP2 on my workstation last night... after a FULL backup.
I was suprised to see that everything was working afterwards.
No problems here, but I think overall, SP2 is going to be a bumpy ride.

Just installed it on 2 of my main computers. Buggered up a few desktop customization programs on my main and screwed up the DHCP on both computers. I now have to enter IP addresses manually which isnt very helpful.. Anyone know any way around this? My notebook uses wireless and my desktops plugged as per normal..
err, minor update.. Some dork (I wont mention my name) forgot to plug his wireless AP back into the network so the notebooks working fine ;)

Is SP2 still in beta, I haven't actually seen it show up in my critical updates yet.
-
It's been released for developers and network administrators, so they can plan deployment.

So that means that we should wait for the official release of Samba 3.0.6 for production servers to get the latest bug fixes?
