Title: host entry for my web
Post by: Del on September 09, 2001, 03:36:00 AM
I have know installed e-smith proper and have configured most things OK. But I cannot get my web page to come up. When I type in www.datacomred.com it comes up with the e-smith starter page, I have worked out that I need to change the www host entry, but what do I put in there? My domain is hosted by uk2net who divert it to my freespace "http://home.btclick..com/telecomred" Can anyone make any suggestions for me to try?
Also what would my delegate mail server be for a Freeserve account? I have tried pop.freeserve.net but e-smith complains: "Error while changing email retrieval settings Invalid delegate email server "pop.freeserve.net". Please make sure you specify a numeric IP address"
These are my last two hurdles to overcome so I can switch off my NT server (before I have to reboot it again).
Thanks everyone for all the help in the past.

Hi,

Seems you wanna do the most unlogical thing there is.

When you divert you domain-name to FreeServer it should be logical to you that this diversion should change to your current IP address from the server (like mine 213.10.xx.xx) and from that point on e-smith takes over.

Your mail should be retrieved as POP3 by E-Smith. You can set all things properly in the menu-item 'EMail retrieval'.

Try to invest some time in DNS structures and IP basics, this will help you a lot in the future. I think you just started and love to know more.
