Ok mail problem sorted. On to the next.
I have a requirement to use Terminal Services to reach my work computer. I use MS remote desktop from my windows box and RemoteDesktop on my Linux box.
Since installing SME server I can no longer contact the works computer. Clear this is an issue with the firewall. I have tried port forwarding on 3389 but no sucess.
Any ideas.

Are you using the Netbios or DNS Hostname?
You may need to open the ports 135 and the other port for DNS.

Do NOT open any additional ports.
try to reach your terminal server by its public IP first.

Boris,
Thank you very much.
I was using host name which SME dns could not resolve.
I can make contact using the IP address.

Hi Boris,
Odd one this. I am currently setting up two SME servers. Both using the same ADSL connection(for now)
When I replied before I was using my brothers SME server with windows 2000 (laptop) client and the connection was straigt out.
I have since disconnected that server and connected my own normal SME server. I cannot connect via this server from either my normal windows 2000 (desktop) client or my Fedora Core 1 machine.
I get back could not connect to remote computer try again later. I can webmail to the same connection so the work server is still up.
Any ideas,
Martin

compare the settings on two SME servers

neither server is letting me TS to work now. If I switch back to the RedHat9 server I get straight out!
Clearly the SME server is explititly disallowing the TS session as I can get to the work server on a web mail connection.
Is ther any way to tweek the firewall to allow Terminal Services ot operate.
This is the last thing that I need the SME server to do. Everything else is fantastic and this is the first time I have managed to use Linux for email.

FWIW, I connect to a Win2003 terminal server thru an SME 6.0.1 with no extra firewall setttings at all.

I don't think it is the firewall it is porbably the proxy server settings.
As I said before I did manage to get out at one time from one of the SME boxes but cannot get out from either. I am using Win2000 or Ferora TS to a wink2000 server.

Further investigation would seem to indicate that Squid is the problem.
I can ping the address of the work server from my win2k client so the firewall would appear to be letting me have access.
There is utility posted on this website for allowing specific internal ip's access via Squid.
This is for 5.6 (would it run ok on 6.01). Will it do what I want?

Squid is only responsible for http(s) (web) caching. You are not using web browser to connect to TS are you?
Use just terminal server client or remote desktop client to connect.
