Title: Opengrouware/postgresql problem SME 6.0.1
Post by: arjanvl on August 19, 2004, 09:26:45 PM
Hi,

Tried to install OpenGroupware on my SME 6.0.1 server but when i tried to connect to it (http://myserver/OpenGroupware )i receive the error:
_________________________________________________
The SKYRIX application server could not connect to the database server !

Please ensure that your database server is running and that the LSConnectionDictionary default is correctly set.
___________________________________________________

I've run a port scan on port 5432(needed for OpenGroupware/postgresql) but it fails so i believe this port isn't opened. Already changed the /etc/e-smith/templates-custom/var/lib/pgsql/data/postgresql.conf file and set the value tcpip_socket to:
#tcpip_socket = true
Restarted postgresql but no result.

Any ideas? I followed the Howto Postgresql 7.4.2 and OpenGroupware from http://vanhees.homeip.net/

If that really is your .conf file, you need to remove the comment (#) at the start of the line to activate it.  Then try expanding the template & restarting postgresql

Hello,

Postgres 7.4.2 don't work with opengroupware.
You have to install Postgres 7.2.1 as describ
here (http://www.vanhees.cc/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=6&meid=)

MasterSleepy THANX!!!

Fixed the problem with the installation of Postgresql 7.2.1. Now I can try OpenGroupware!!! Do i need to install ZideStore for synchronizing with my Mozilla Calendar/Sunbird??? If yes: Is it possible to install on e-smith and is ZideStore free or not? I can't find the exact answers on there site.

Again MasterSleepy thanx for your help!

Hi all,

I'm very new to linux and SME 6 but I can follow instructions well.  I was followed the step by step instructions for installing opengroupware by Van Hees Michel and when I got to the end where I have to start opengroupware I got the following error message

/etc/init.d/opengroupware: /root/.bash_profile: Permission denied
/etc/init.d/opengroupware: achievable: command not found
/etc/init.d/opengroupware: line 50: syntax error near unexpected token fi'
/etc/init.d/opengroupware: line 50: fi'

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

I h8 it when you are a noob at something and you have to go and ask a noob question.

I looked at Sleepy's howto for OpenGroupWare: http://www.vanhees.cc/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=7&meid=

But I can't actually find the RPM's he mentions in the article? I've searched all over the OGW site and all I can find are specific RPM's for other distro's, or the full source.

I do have YUM installed but the OGW site mentions only Fedora2 as a valid distro. I've seen a few posts here that say that Fedora RPM's won't work on SME.

Sorry everyone!

Geoffrey

Ok, the installation manual is great, I found all files and installed everything without a problem, thank you so much for coming up with such a HOWTO, it is great. Now what's next? How to I access groupware from my winblows workstation? Obviously I do not have X running on my SME server. I've tried to connect to htp://192.168.69.111:20000 which is my sme server internal IP, and no luck, nothing comes up, just the same page I'm currently on. Any ideas anyone, please ... if this works I'll be rolling it out on a production site. Many thanks in advance.

Are there any other mirrors/sources?

I got a similar result but in my case it may due to the error messages I got when I started opengroupware.
e.g.

[root@charles-sq WebServerResources]# /etc/init.d/opengroupware start
/etc/init.d/opengroupware: /root/.bash_profile: Permission denied
/etc/init.d/opengroupware: achievable: command not found
Starting OpenGroupware:
/etc/init.d/opengroupware: ----------------------------------------------------------------------: command not found
                                                           [   OK   ]
[root@charles-sq WebServerResources]#
