I would like to try moving SME 6.0.1 from base of RH7.3 to RHES3 type distro such as CentOS-3: 'suitable for users who need to upgrade RH7.3,RH8 machines due to Redhat end-of-life'
See: http://www.caosity.org
and: http://www.owlriver.com/projects/yum/rhl8-to-rhl9/
The reason for this would be to retain SME web management tools but tap into the Centos(RHES) patches and upgrades... through until 2008 at least :)
Before I start, can anyone tell me if this is a stupid idea or some reason that it could not work?
Regards,
Roger.

You may want to join your forces with Shad Lords http://lordsfam.net who is working in the same (fedora core2) direction. Some work is done already and some more needed.

I will do that... just as soon as I can get up to speed to the extent that I can be more of a help than a hindrance.
I couldn't find an email contact link for Shad... so here is a link to my own email: saas AT sf DOT users DOT net
I have an operating SME Server that has been migrated to a Centos3.1 (RHES3) package base.
I am currently in the middle of patching all the errno stuff
Here is a link describing what I have done:

This will be kept up to date as I get more time to play :).

Roger
