I have been using IP masquerading for the past 6 months. In view of the events of September 11, I have to make one of my computers capable of having public IP address, capable of VPN capability. My configuraion has been as described on page 15 of the e-Smith manual (ADSL -> modem -> server). I will still be using the ISP's router. In order to install static IP addresses on my other computers, do I need to reconfigure my wiring plant at all? Do I reconfigure the DHCP settings on my e-smith server? All of the above, none of the above ????

Figured it out. This is one of the few times the Linux (E-Smith) server has to reboot. It's because the internal NIC and the DHCP addresses have changes.
