Title: Losing mail somewhere?
Post by: Drifting on September 10, 2004, 02:32:53 PM
Help I need a little hand holding with a problem on an SME 6.1 server.

The server has been working form months absolutely fine. Yesturday for some unknown reason all the mail that was being collected via pop3 never got delivered to the users. Luckily the ISP has webmail so I created a few more emails and watched the SME collect them, still nothing deliverd to the users? I have to say that I am not very knowlegeable on SME or the mail services, I did take a look at the logs, but to be honest they made little sense?
All mail that does not have a recipient does get delivered to the admin and not bounced. And nothing appears in the admin mailbox either.

I have only one none standard contrib, and that is the PageFault.org ClamAV rpm.

Any help would be most welcome.

Paul.

did you check if the clamAV-service is running?
if it is not running, restart it manual or restart your server.

cheers

I have seen mail from clamav get dumped into /tmp on lower spec machines.

Thank you both for the reply. I found the problem    Someone, namely me, changed the premissions on the users directories by mistake! I meant to just change the files directory, but stupidly changed the users container. Set them back what they should have been and all the mail came in DOH !!!
