Title: Swapping NIC's Help Please!
Post by: wickedImp on September 14, 2004, 01:13:27 AM
Hi all,

I thought I was going nuts after I installed the new 6.0.1 release and installed it on a new box.. Being a 5.6 user previously I was looking for that handy little feature that allows you to swap the network interfaces during the initial config.

I was wondering if some genius would be kind enough to post me a quick howto so I can swap my nic's around with the minimum of hassle! I'm more than comfortable in a console and know my way around quite a bit but just don't feel confident to start messing with stuff without a little reality check first!

Cheers ppl!

Go back into configuration from the server console.
You arrive "select local network ethernet driver", 3 options:

Keep current settings (i.e sis900...)
1. Use e100 for chipset Intel
2. manually select driver .....

You can swop NIC here by selecting "1. Use e100 for chipset Intel"|. This will free the sis900 to be used for external network.  Same routine when you arrive at Select external network ethernet driver, select "1.Use sis900..."
