Title: Software RAID Max HD Size
Post by: Steve on September 16, 2001, 07:45:55 AM
I was wondering if there is a maximum hard disk size supported by e-smith when software raid is used. I am trying to use two 40 GB drives with software raid and the e-smith installation seems to halt on "formating / filesystem ...". I have installed e-smith several times now and have tested it in non-production machines in the past with smaller drives and have never ran into any problems.

Steve,

Here two links which should give you an answer and some fixes:

"HardDisk Limit 32GB in e·Smith Overruled"
http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=2167.msg7276#msg7276

"Software RAID systems only reporting half the size of available disk space"
http://www.e-smith.org/bugs/index.php3?op=showBug&bugID=40

Hope this helps (it should, it helped my 20gb RAID problem).

Regards,
Patrick
