Title: shared webmail distribution lists...
Post by: gobdob on September 19, 2004, 12:33:06 AM
Hello,

I have setup a SME Server 6.0.1 for a small office and they would like to utilize the built-in Webmail system.  Is there a way to setup a group distribution list (ie. a group called 'Accounting', a group called 'IT') for the LDAP?

If not, could I create the lists from one user account's webmail system and somehow share it to the other users?

Lastly, is there a way to import the entire LDAP into the 'MyAddressBook' of a user account so I don't have to re-add all the users of the LDAP system to start creating the distribution list?

Thanks for your help!

Well I believe that you can actually send emails to the groups defined in the server-manager.

So create a group Accounting, add users to the group then send an email to "accounting".

Also, there is an contrib started called something like Global Addressbook.  But I don't think it does groups yet....  :-(   but is planned  :-D

Thanks!  That was exactly what I was looking for.  I didn't know that a group is also a group email list too!

As for the global addressbook, I look forward to it!!
