Hello, i am a long time e-smith user. I have always loved using this product. However, i have a quick question

I am using a e-smith in an office environment. The whole office is winows xp workstations and a windows 2000 server.

I am using my e-smith as a gateway. For me to remotely access the lan. i have been using the standard pptp. BUT, now several of my users want the oppurtunity to access the office lan from the road. I have given them pptp access so they can send their mail out. However, they can not access the file shares since they are on a windows 2000 domain.

I am looking for some explanation of the best way to do this..Should I port forward the pptp port through the e-smith to the windows server, or is there a way for my users to authenticate off the windows server without forwarding it...

Suggestions would be appreciated.

1.  Try accessing the server using the ip address
    e.g.   \\192.168.10.20

    if this allows access, then you may want to
    try step 2.

2.  In the VPN networking screen.  on the TCP/IP
    advanced section, add the WINS to the
    ip of the windows server.

    Now try with the name

I've been having problems with vpn access and one way to get access is to use vnc.  Have your users run vnc host on their office computers and when they attach via the vpn they can rc those computers.
