I have followed what is, near as I can tell, the defacto HOW-TO on installing this great little ibay add-on from this link: http://sme.swerts-knudsen.dk/index.html?frame=http%3A//sme.swerts-knudsen.dk/howtos/howto_8.htm
I have it up and running BUT...
I can't seem to make any changes to it, ie; I would like to change the security model, change the color scheme, etc... everytime I go to make a change I get prompted to save a text file called inc-prefs.txt. On another machine that I built about two years or so ago on a 6.x box (pre-contribs.org version) I can make changes like this all day and they "just happen". Not here.
Ie; (if anyone familiar w/netjuke)
I log in as admin user.
Click Admin | Appearence Preferences
Change the theme from Artekopia to Creative Commons
Click Save
... I get asked about saving this file.
I have read someplace about "simply merging" this file with the existing inc-prefs.php file. That doesn't appeal to me (not to mention the fact that I tried it and no change anyway... :-x )
I then went to the source, netjuke.org, and found this link where they mention something about giving the web server itself rights to the file in question - link here: http://www.netjuke.org/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article
Tried that too - no joy.
Anyone? What am I missing?
TIA folks...

Have you tried to change to ownership of the file to your web user.
the command you need to run in you netjukeibay/etc directory is
chown -R www.www . inc-prefs.php
then you need to login as the admin user, click on the admin link then system preferences then select safe to file.

Mumm... you 'da man. I did change permissions on that file - just to the wrong user appparently. I had tried apache - thought that would have been good enough - guess not. www and your chmod -R seems to have done the trick. ;)
Thanks.
