Title: Conflict between local and remote site url address
Post by: gagem on October 07, 2004, 06:06:07 AM
G'day,

I am new to e-smith, although my company has been using it for some time, and I'm stuck. Our e-mails come through our isp to the e-smith server as ???@roweandjarman.com.au, but our remotely hosted website address is www.roweandjarman.com.au.

I need to install e-smith/mle on a new machine as the old one is on the way out, but I can't get the new installation to direct internet explorer to the remote www.roweandjarman.com.au site, I only get the page on the local server. I know it's possible somehow to configure because the old e-smith server we've got does it.

Is anybody able to help me ?

Have a look in Hostnames and addresses under the server-manager.

Thanks for the quick reply!

I think there is a relevant entry under hostnames, the old machine has the entry :

hostname "www", ip address = 202.174.32.82

When I try setting that up on the new machine, it defaults www to www.roweandjarman.com.au. I've tried the ip address under both local and remote, and neither option works.
