Hello,
ok, fresh install, I've got all the routing setup, so
that I can get to the website, ftp, etc.
The ONLY thing that I cannot get to work is to get
it to receive ANY messages whatsoever!
domain : www.tinytwo.net
mail server: mail.tinytwo.net ---> mail.tinytwo.redirectme.net (my dynamic ip router, from no-ip.com) ----> mail.tinytwo.net (my local mail server)
I can telnet into mail.tinytwo.net port 25 (from anywhere), and get my smtp deamon, the problem is that no messages are getting INTO my email accounts, at least not via webmail. I'd prefer to use webmail over anything!.
btw, the ONLY addon that I've installed is a NO-IP.com
client.
any suggestions or ideas will help, thanks in advance,
Oliver. (Cheers. :pint: )
P.s.- I'm a newbie so commands for instructions is ALWAYS helpfull!.

This might be an obvious response but,
I don't think it is a problem with the SME.
Double check that all your redirects are working.
I sent a test email but it did not bounce and I assume you did not get it...

Update,
I got a delay response from my mail server

Oliver,
Your URLs resolve as follows.
tinytwo.net = 66.218.79.155 (yahoo.com)
mail.tinytwo.net = 64.230.157.111 (sympatico.ca)
www.tinytwo.net = 64.230.157.111 (sympatico.ca)
Note the different IP adresses!
Are you hosting your web site on your SME Server or remotely at Yahoo?
mail.tinytwo.net is being directed to the same IP address as your web site.
I can not telnet to mail.tinytwo.net on port 25 so something is wrong with the DNS or redirection service. OR your ISP is blocking port 25.
Below is some DNS information that might help you figure it out. You may also want to check with your ISP to see if they are blocking any ports.

Btw, thanks everybody so far...
ok, so tinytwo.net domain is DNS'ed from yahoo, which
is supposed to forward to no-ip.com dns, which is then
supposed to find my sympatico (my local ISP,DSL)dynamic IP.
I'll go in order of what SHOULD happen when someone
sends an email TO my server.
outbound email from @blah.com to mail.tinytwo.net
(which is forwarded) to no-ip.com's mail.tinytwo.redirectme.net which is then supposed
to forward to my SME server.
basicly I have want EVERYTHING hosted on my own server, except the DNS info (cuz, my p3 500 would choke on that!)
Currently I have the web/ftp/ssh all working perfectly. I just can't get mail to go INBOUND.
I'm at a loss!.
ANY help would be apreciated.
if anyone could try and log into my SMTP server,
and send a message to admin@tinytwo.net it would be apreciated!.
Thanks in advance.
Oliver.

Oliver,
I am not able to telnet to mail.tinytwo.net on port 25. It simple hangs and times out. This means that your mail server is not visable.
It appears that no-ip.com's redirectme.net is not doing the job properly. I suggest that you go to http://www.dnsreport.com/ and run their tests, look at all the "fails" and "warnings".
Here is what should happen when you telnet to an SME mail server if the DynDNS service is working correctly.
[root@mabit01 root]# telnet mail.aqua-terra.com.au 25
Trying 144.136.254.149...
Connected to mail.aqua-terra.com.au.
Escape character is '^]'.

221 Good bye.

You should move your DynDNS service to a provider that does the job correctly. I have been using ZoneEdit for years without any problems.

Oliver,
Your problem is with your ISP "Sympatico".
Take a look at this post http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=24540.msg98440#msg98440

Hey,
Well thanks to everyone for the suggestions and pointers, I'm now using Zoneedit.com to handle my
domain, and routing my mail via www.no-ip.com's mail reflector service.
Turns out my problem was that my local provider blocks port 25, even though, when I called them and
asked, they told me it wasn't (a tech that didn't know what he was talking about!!!).
Big thanks to bobk, for the pointer on Sympatico's service. All now seems to be working!.
Woohoo.... (small dance around room).
Thanks again,
Cheers :pint:
Oliver.
