Title: New kernel for my smeserver
Post by: DavidClarke on October 20, 2004, 07:12:06 PM
I need to generate a new kernel for my smeserver with support for uncommon hardware.

Where can I find the tools and source file needed to recompile the standard 2.4.20-18 kernel?

I have found references for use with E-Smith 5.6, but I need the equivalent for version 6.

Pointers, please.

Head on over to Sleepy SME & have a chat with MasterSleepy, he compiles up kernels for everyone to use on a semi regular basis.  You may be able to get him to build you one to your specs (as he is setup to do it already) and maybe the latest version too :-)

If you absolutely have to do it yourself pop over to the nearest good mirro and d/l the dev tools.  The recommended dev platform is a RH 7.3 box.

Thanks to smeghead for the pointer to Sleepy SME, but I am looking to do my own compilation.

I've been pointed to the source of my problem - the wiki front-end was truncating the SRPMs list and a search for 'kernel' did not produce anything. It now seems OK.
