Title: PPOE SME Server and Sticky IP's
Post by: Neririn on October 20, 2004, 11:38:48 PM
Ok, bear with me...

I would like to know if this is possible or has been implemented by someone.

I would like to take an SME Server/Gateway box and have it recieve its static public ip from PPOE and have two additional network zones. I would like 1 network zone to be private DHCP, firewalled etc, and another network zone to forward traffic for assigned 'sticky ip's' out a third DMZ nic.

Is this possible?  Would it just be smarter to install one SME box with PPOE and a local lan of the sticky IP subnet, and then plug a seccond SME firewall/gateway into that 'local' lan?

Forgive me if this makes no sense...  I am still thinking it out in my mind.

Sounds like the machine must have 3 network cards at minimum?

Yes, I will intend to put a third nic in the machine, but I was unsure if SME was capable of supporting 3 networks.  Does anyone know how this would be done?  Or if it is possible or worse in some way violates the security of the SME box?
