Title: Mac file sharing access privileges
Post by: koolmoose on September 21, 2001, 12:25:01 AM
Hi everyone,

I haven't been able upload a file to e-smith using an iMac with OS 8.5 or a Performa with OS 8.0 using e-smith 4.1.2.

On e-smith:
user test
password go

I am able to open home directory for test from the Mac Chooser. I can also create new folders within that directory to any level from the Mac.

However, when I attempt to upload a text file to any of the folders I get a dialog "The item cannot be written because it is locked.  The filename and icon is created but it has zero length.

When I try to delete the empty file I get a dialog "The item cannot be deleted because you do not have enough access priviledges"

It seems to me uploads worked at one time.  I have gone over the settings described in the docs many times.

Looking at /var/log/messages I see normal login activity for netatalk.  Can someone provide pointers to isolate this problem?

Sorry, forgot to add info from tail -f /var/log/messages.   This is related to an upload attempt.

Sep 20 12:59:27 dell200 afpd[21782]: login admin (uid 100, gid 102)
Sep 20 12:59:27 dell200 afpd[21782]: afp_getsrvrparms: stat /home/e-smith/home: No such file or directory

Have I lost part of e-smith somewhere?

TIA
