Hi.
I have read all i can on using SATA RAID drivers on SME server. I think i am getting really close but can't quite get there. I am using a Asus Board with a Promise Fasttrack 376 (PDC20376) controller. I have downloaded redhat 7.3 drivers from
http://www.promise.com/support/download/download2_eng.asp?productId=107&category=driver&os=3
I don't know the difference between the UP(uni processor) driver and the SMP driver. When i follow the readme with them and copy to a floppy, and them instaltt SME 6.0.1 off CD with the accept dd boot command the machine starts loading the driver off the disk and then asks for the supplementary disk. if i put in the other dirver disk ie. SMP or UP (tried both ways) it says the device can't be unmounted. I think the is a prob with the install script or somethin bu i am a bit of a newbie. can anyone help me.
And yes i wan't to install and bood on a SATA RAID mirror hardware array.
Please Help me and i will Love you.
Thanks.

Peter,
I'm afraid with SME 6.0x RH7.3 stock you are not going to love anyone soon :-?
Have a status read on Linux-Sata starting from:
http://linux.yyz.us/sata/faq-sata-raid.html
http://linux.yyz.us/sata/sata-status.html
... finally for you this will lead you to
http://www.murty.net/ataraid/
Linux-Software-Raid-x works in SME :-)
... or go buy a real hardware, a 3ware Raid :-)
Regards
Reinhold
P.S.: Latest I tried the stuff finally works but its running non-DMA <bah>
