Title: Latency?
Post by: Olsen on October 25, 2004, 10:25:00 PM
Does anyone know what would cause an increase in latency on the network.

My system monitor is showing that prior to three weeks ago we were not having any latency...Three weeks ago it jumped up to where it is now and has been holding steady at 1.2m

Does anyone know how I can decrease or eliminate latency on the network?  Could it be our ISP?

I run a server here were it is on 8 ms all the time, and there seem to be constant trafic in the WAN side also. This server runs on a cable modem, Motorola SB4100. It hasn't always been like that, but i think it came after firmware upgrade in the modem.
Who is your ISP? Is it cable?

We have Satellite, comparable to T1, but that does not explain why I am all of a sudden getting latency when I was not getting any in the past....

T1 will have less latency when compared to cable modem.
