Title: How to forward IP adress?
Post by: adolfas on October 26, 2004, 03:10:33 PM
My server is gateway and has external IP 192.168.0.101
Gateway 192.168.0.1

I have one local computer with ftp server (OS - WINXP). I need to forward it to external IP adress, lets say 192.168.0.102, so it could be reached from outside. Its local adress is 10.10.10.101. How to do this?

Or another question:
I can do it in another way: make this IP on 2000 port, but then I need to open that port, right? So hoe to do this, couse 'port opening' on server-manager doesnt open ports.

If you are using the SME Server as the Gateway and have the XP machine behind this gateway, why not use the FTP server on the SME Server?

another idea:
forward the ftp-port of your SME-server to your win-machine.
you have to open the port and then forward the port.

cheers

by the way:
192.168.*.* are "private" ip-adresses and cannot be reached from the internet because all routers will ignore them.

cheers

I cant use SME ftp, couse there is another system. I have 1 SME server as server and gateway and inside my network I have 1 workgroup, it has another server (winxp). So I need to give this server external IP adress. Believe me, it s the only way. I could explain why in lithuanian, but in english is a bit too hard for me  :-D
And I chose 192.168.*.* just as an example.
So please help me to forward adress.
