Title: vlan tagging
Post by: oliverm on October 28, 2004, 11:48:39 AM
Hi,

I have a multi floor office, each floor will be sublet to other firms. We have just moved out and i am looking at replacing our kit so that we can provide a secure internet facility for the new tenants.

In order to achieve this, we are planning to put all the network points on each floor in to their own vlan, so that each floor is seperate to the others. In order to allow each floor access to the net, the firewall (at the moment an SME machine) will be placed in to a trunk port. In order for the firewall to be able to route data back to the correct vlan, it needs to support vlan tagging so that packets are tagged with the destination vlan and the switch can deliver them correclty.

So, my question is, does SME support vlan tagging ? Has anyone achieved a similar setup using sme ?
