Title: New SCSI system falls down on large files?
Post by: tjk on November 02, 2004, 06:08:34 AM
Hello all

Just put a new box together. Got everything up and running and left it alone. Came back later to find large files timing out when a user tries to work with them. XP throws a "Delayed write error". Oddly enough reads are just fine. Same file that will copy over to a 2k client in 50 seconds Windows estimates at 120 minutes to copy it back on the SME box.

I tried FTP and same issue. Download no problem. Upload just hung until I killed my client.

Small files read and write no problem.

System is a solid old Dell P2 tower running 2 SCSI discs in SW RAID 1 off seperate ATTO UL2D cards.

Got a tip to try mii-tool. NIC was running @ 10mbit HD. Have switched to a new NIC and all is well.
