Hi
Is it possible to have 2 disks with software raid and one disk with out raid in SME?
If yes what about the I-bays where would they be createt?
My meaning with the setup, is to have a secure i bays where data ise mirrored with softraid, and the disk with out raid is for a temp drive where people at the lan can store not important data is it possible with SME server?

if you use software mirroring the ibays would be mirrord. So your fine.
after install of sme on 2 Hd using software mirorning ad your 3rd hd and mount this to a user or so.

...actually an SME raid1 auto setup mirrors "everything" incl boot and root <g> swap(ped) all over in various RAID1 partitions...
But HP is right:
Just treat the 3rd drive as any regular 2nd drive and mount it where you want it.
- If you want this as a shared ibay best make a link inside the ibays-path or
- you just follow the "add 2nd Hard Disk" tutorial here and mount "one level lower" i.e. only your new ibay not all ibays.

You can set up a seperate raid1 mirror that can do that for you. Search these forums for raid and raid1 and you will find your answer.
I have my SME installed on a single disk, then I created a 300gb raid1 array and mounted it at /home so everything is saved.
You do the same thing by mounting your raid1 at /home/e-smith/files/ibays then every ibay would be on the mirror. Next, install another HD, and map it to something like /home/e-smith/files/users/temp and allow that user to be shared to everyone.
I am not a well versed person in Linux, but I think that would work.

Evidently you did not search that well, or at all. I followed the RAID HOWTO mentioned in this thread:

And I also found this thread which helped me also:

Good luck!
