Title: mail routing help please
Post by: stevet on November 08, 2004, 11:25:36 AM
Hi all,

I have 2 email servers and 2 adsl connections. A couple of days ago one of my isp's decided to block SMTP traffic on their network.
Which stopped one of my email servers working. I have 3 domains in total spread accross both those machines.
I am having a lot of trouble configuring the sme server to receive all the emails and pass domaina.com's email through.

Server1 (nt4 lotus notes) 192.168.111.44
domaina.com

Server2 (sme 6) 192.168.111.17 (ext) 192.168.111.12 (int)
domainb.com
domainc.com

I had hoped to have the sme server receive email for all three domain and forward the emails for domaina to server1 across the local network.
I added a virtual domain for domaina.com's mx record but found that the sme server was interrogating the incoming email recipients for domaina.com and rejecting them as the users did not exist locally.
I had the vdomain set as remote.
My only option at the moment is to move the two domains off the sme server and change the nat on the router to the nt4 server as there are way
to many users on domaina.com to re-enter them into the sme server and I don't really wan't to move over to lotus on the other two domains for obvious reasons any way.
Is there a way to get the sme server to pass the emails through to lotus without rejecting them or to have the sme server resolve users for domaina.com using the lotus ldap.

All help is appreciated.

PS. I suffered a lot of crap from my boss’s for putting a Linux server in and would like to get this working.  They chose Lotus  :-D
