Title: need some help to access i-bays
Post by: Simon Vetterli on September 24, 2001, 01:38:01 PM
Hi

I have one problem. I can access to the different i-bays with

ftp://[ibayname]@domain

and as login and password [ibayname]

This works fine.

Now if I like to publish to the directory I don't have the permission to do it.
I can download the files, it's works fine. But I can't publish to this directory.

What I i have to set now?

Thank You for Your answer.

Simon

I just got this going.

 I'm using 5.0 .

From server manager:
Remote access:
 FTP user account access:                           [Public_]
 FTP access limits:                                 [Normal usage

Information bays
group: everyone   [i want to try this as a more limited group later].
User access via file sharing or user ftp:   [Write = Group, Read = Everyone (*)]
Public access via web or anonymous ftp:  [Entire Internet (no password required)

You must log in as a user, not the ibay name in order to upload.
This is stated in 'Remote Access' screen of server manager:
You can also control FTP write access for the admin and user accounts
on this server. (Write access is never permitted via anonymous FTP or
   via the information bay accounts.)

I use Mandrake Linux and Konqureor as browser. It handles ftp better than any of the window or other linux browsers I've tried. The address I use is
rob@ftp.mysite.com/ibays/robs-ibay

A password IS required, even though I setit up for no password above. When the permissions stuff is fixed in an SME upgrade, be sure to make sure things are set to need a password.

For Windows, I tried many ftp pgms.. The one working best for now is
Cute FTP PRO.  This pgm allows you to log in as a regular user, then change to the ibay dir.
  In the Site Manager
General tab:  Host address, user name & password
    Actions tab:
      remote folder:  /ibays/ibayname/files

good luck!
