Title: German forum?
Post by: stefan24 on November 17, 2004, 09:07:55 AM
Hi!

What about a german forum?

I know about http://sudemo.info/index.php and know, that they discussed about a german forum on contribs.org, but since there is no progress, I wanted to ask here.

But the other half (at least in Germany, Switzerland and Austria) could talk to each other in the native language.
I must admit, that my english is not as good as I wish and I surely would talk much more about SME in the forums, when I don't have to translate my intensions before.

The quantity and quality of the postings do not satisfy me. Maximum users online ever were 5 at one time.
Latest messages in some of their boards are > 10 months old.

They also seem to have problems spreading their existance via Google and Co.

OK, I will write to staff.

that's the problem:
if nobody uses sudemo-forum, it will never be a big forum...

My answer to Stefan24 is very simple.

Look in the forum here how much german speaking people you find, than you know how much users the german forum will have here or somewhere else.

It is not just to open a new german section here and you will get more response to requests you have because the main group here speak english and only some of them german, so from where you will get more german speaking users?

This is one point.

The other point is that the software is not offered from contribs.org with a german interface which is the main reason that this software is not very popular in german speaking areas. I make a translation for the admin panel and send it also to some guys here from contribs.org but never get any response so I offer it on my own site. Even there the response is not very high. Anyway we do some nice changes in a small group and I hope this will be more in future with some very active guys in the moment.

Hope this will answer you the question why no one from contribs.org is interested in a german forum here. They have much more to do with other things.
