Title: iso download problems
Post by: graham neist on September 25, 2001, 04:11:04 AM
I have a v4.1.1 evaluation edition cd rom from e-smith.

I would like to upgrade to v5 by downloading the iso image

Because of its size, a slow connection and limited access I could only get 95mb in about 6 hours online.

Is there any way I can form an iso image from the cd-rom for v4.1.1 I have so that I can then use rsync to download the v5 iso. This would significant reduce the download time (or so I am told).

much thanks
Graham

Sure, it's possible to do that, but the process will depend greatly on your CD-R software.  The only one I've used to do this successfully is cdrwin.

However, it may not save you a great deal of time--I only got a 50% savings when I used a 5.0beta2 ISO as the seed for rsync.
