Hi ok this is the problem: I cannot send mails to my server from outside the network (ie with hotmail etc)
SME (server gateway) is set up with the domain
mydomain.com
and
mail.mydomain.com (set to global)
My domain management provider has
mydomain.com pointing to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
initially the MX-records were with my providers MX servers, but when I tried to alter it to mail.mydomain.com it would not accept because it's a subdomain.
So I set the MX Records to mydomain.com (still awaiting for update to take place to see if this works)
The question is do i HAVE to register the subdomain mail.mydomain.com with my provider for my SME server to resieve mail, or is there a set MX server address within the SME server I can give to the provider to pass my mails to?
This is all very confusing, I've tried using the online manual but it seems to be down, and the technicians manual is for some 6000 server system??
advise or links much appriciated.
