Title: Boot Failure

I get an L when booting the first time after a fresh install..

What should I do ??

ouch sounds like a boot failure...are you booting a floppy drive or what?  Try reinstalling with default settings..

Sounds like you are getting a LILO error (hennce the L as the first of the LILO sequence.

If you made an emergency boot diskette then you can try booting from it.  If the server boots to a login, login as root and run lilo.  Hopefully that will restore a proper set of LILOs in the MBR.

I just found my problem!
It seems like SME doesn't like that the HDD is installed as Primary Slave (hdb)!

Even when it is the only drive in the system like was the case..

I changed the drive to Primary Masterb (hda), installed evrything from scratch and now it boots fine...
