Title: how to read the log file?
Post by: thefishguy on December 09, 2004, 06:22:47 PM
Hi,
the sme server is working great for me as a firewall and proxyserver.
but when I try to look at the squid access log to see what site the users visit.
the logs look like this:
1102345521.400    342 192.168.2.6 TCP_MISS/200 11854 GET http://www.yahoo.com/ - DIRECT/66.94.230.48 text/html

how do  see the date of the log entry?also, where do I set how many days the system should keep the logs?

Sorry if my question is too simple.I was using MS ISA server.
Thanks in advance.

Squid Access Report Generator (SARG)

Gives you all the info you want in a nice interface.

http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/smeserver/contribs/dmay/mitel/contrib/e-smith-sarg/e-smith-sarg-1.2.3-2.noarch.rpm

http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/smeserver/contribs/dmay/mitel/contrib/e-smith-sarg/sarg-1.2.1-1.i386.rpm

Install both the above rpms and let it run overnight.  Will create reports on a daily + Weekly + monthly basis.
