Title: SMTP being blocked
Post by: CKConsulting on December 15, 2004, 10:14:44 PM
I have a 6.1.1-01 server running as a gateway.
About a week ago users were no longer able to send email via pop3.  They got a SMTP server error.
It picks up the email with no issues but will not send.
Email is not running on this server, ISP is hosting email. Any clue why it would be blocking SMTP traffic?
Or hot to fix it.  I'm running Dan's guardian but I shut it off and I get the same results.

Hi Rick,

From the client, can you telnet to the mail server port 25 (try hostname AND IP address) ? That should tell you if you're getting through the SME server.

Apart from Dans, any mods installed recently ?

Thanks for the reply.  Dan's is really the only thing running on it so I just reinstalled SME and then ran the  SMEplus script and then then installed Dan's.  All is well in the world again.  Except for some issues with Dan's and XP sp2 firewall, but what's new.....

if your using sbc they started the begining of the moth blocking port 25 rolling it out to differnt hubs. i was hit about 2 weeks ago. you need to goto the sbc abuse site and file a form to opt out.
