I have two SME servers, so I know it should work, but on the new install (6.01) qmail just won't receive external mail.
It was a fresh install, then I put on clamav-es, amavis-ng, spamassassin and mrtg from Jesper's site.
sending a mail to this server gets "Connected_to_ x.x.x.x_but_connection_died._(#4.4.2)/"
I have removed clamav-es; amavis-ng and spamassassin but still no incoming mail.
Has anyone any clues?

Run:
/sbin/e-smith/signal-event post-upgrade
/sbin/e-smith/signal-event reboot
If the add-on packages were properly designed, then this process should return your system to a fully working configuration. If they were not well designed, anything could happen.
If things still don't work correctly, keep looking in your log files (especially smtpfront-qmail's) for clues.
