Title: SMB shares - partitial write access
Post by: mackayr on January 01, 2005, 08:26:08 AM
I only seem to have partial write access to shared folders (ibays) through SMB.  For some reason I can create/modify/erase files, but can only create/modify folders.  Once a folder is created, I can only erase it on the SME server machine itself (through Midnight Commander for example).

My problem seems to be at least partially related to mounting on linux machine.  I seem to be able to erase folders through smb://server/share, but not in mounted folder.  I can erase folders on my WinXP machine in the ibay shares.

Any suggestions?

Get WinSCP3  onto your windows machine, and use it to examine the permissions!

I've had similar problems where some users had access, and others didn't , just within Windows!  ( ie on a server 2003 system! )

You may want to move your data directories down one level, so your SHARE has only admin write permission, but each subdirectory can be made public.
