Title: Backing up IMAP e-mail databases
Post by: ki11er on January 06, 2005, 07:46:00 AM
I have a client that is currently using SME Server 6.0.1 as a e-mail (IMAP + SMTP) and file server.

Currently they have a backup system that backup's the data in their ibays but how do I backup the e-mail IMAP databases without using "Backup To Desktop"

Thanks

Michael

Hi Michael (in Wellington)

Maybe you backup (rsync?) the users mail directories (/home/e-smith/files/users/*/Maildir/) into a "backup ibay" each night before the main backup job backs up the ibays?

Regards,
Michael (in Tauranga)

Sounds like a good idea, so how do I go about it. I'm mostly a newbie when it comes to Linux.

Thanks
