Title: Create boot diskette
Post by: bergmann on January 10, 2005, 09:25:43 PM
I have downloaded and burned the iso for the 6.01 server, but want to install it on an older computer, which seems to be unable to boot from the cd-rom. Anybody who can help (I have tried to find a "How to", but I can't anything relevant).

regards, Bergmann

Thank you John, this was the information I remembered having seen seen the last time I installed SME.

Theres only one problem more to remember, to add the file ks_xxx.cfg to the floppy and then rename it kf.cfg.

Title: You might also consider another boot manager

The brilliant but not really pretty Boot Manager:

http://btmgr.sourceforge.net

(The webpage is pretty severely broken so you'll have to navigate by hand.  However, the software ROCKS; I was able to use this to boot a Slackware install CD on an ancient Gateway Solo laptop that I was told could *not* boot from CD, nohow, no way.  Won a case of beer on that one.)

And the pretty GAG:
