Title: cannot see my website
Post by: comp123 on January 17, 2005, 12:07:20 PM
I have a SME server as my gateway and firewall, but I cannot see my website that is hosted by a outside ISP. When I had version 5.6 I put the correct ip address on the hostnames and addresses section and it worked. now when I put in my website I get the SME's website.

you need to change the "www" record in server manager under "hostnames and addresses" to point to your isp's webserver - choose the remote option.

this is what it looks like
www.compnent.co.za Global Remote 196.36.239.111 196.36.239.111   ....
Yet when I type the above it goes to my SME box. I had it like this when I had version 5.6 and it worked. Now with version 6 I cannot get to my website

Hi,

The best thing to do is make the changes on the SME box reboot it....in the mean time reboot your pc and then try pinging the website from your pc to your website it should resolve to "196.36.239.111"
