Hello everyone,
I've just installed e-smith 4.1.2, and I'm almost happy with it. The only trouble I have is about connecting to the internet. My ISP provided me with a Alcatel T1000 ADSL modem (with an ethernet port), which does not seem to support PPPoE. When I use it under Windows, it says it uses PPTP and VPN to establish a connection.
The e-smith menu for dedicated connections doesn't refer to PPTP nor VPN. Is this considered to be the default ? Then how do I set up the IP address for my eth card, and where do I type my login/password ? I know how to build a connection with this modem under other linux distro, but if I do the same with e-smith, how will it route my client connections to this dsl connection ?
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Serge

I had one running under 4.12, and 4.11 at my last job. It worked fine. the problems I ran into when setting it up were password oriented. they never gave me the correct password and it took me a while to figure it out. It did however install fine. All I can say is check your wiring, and UN & PW and you should be good to go. it is by far not as complicated as setting it up in windows. You might also want to double-check the rest of your configuration settings. Hope it helps, but just keep it simple and it should work.
FWIW,
Steve

Salut,
