Title: Port Opening
Post by: pabs on January 21, 2005, 04:38:34 AM
Hi All,

I'm trying to open port 43924 on my SME 6.0, i've installed the following rpm dmc-mitel-portopening-0.0.1-4.noarch.rpm and it seems to be working fine in the admin panel.

How can i make sure that the port really is open?

Has anybody used this rpm with any success?

Is there a better way to open a port?

Thanks

I found a port scanning program called "Angry IP Scanner".  seems to work very well.  A scan of my server shows these ports open :

seems resonable to me ... but i've opened another port using the port opening rpm and it isn't showing up?

Why wouldn't it show up as being open?

I need port 43924 open to 2-way traffic.

does anyone have a solution?

It's pointless opening a port on the server unless you've added software on the server which listens to that port.

If you really need to do it (which I doubt) then use a custom template.

Thank you for your reply.

The reason that i need to open that port is for a cc payment service that i am using, they require bidirectional traffic available on port 43924.

If i need to open this port with a custom template, does anyone know of a good tutorial on what template to modify and how to modify it?

because this port is for cc payment what program/deamon should be listening to this port? and how do i get it to start listening?
