Title: Trying to install SME 6.01..
Post by: soup on January 21, 2005, 10:14:37 PM
Greetings,

I'm new to SME and this is my first attempt at installing the software. I'm trying to set up a server on an old p2 400 that I had hanging around in my basement. I got the installation running fine but as soon as the installation completed, I get prompted for a Localhost Login and password. Anyone have any idea what this is? The pc is not currently part of a network nor does it have any set passwords in the bios.

Any help would be appreciated... thanks.

Hi Soup,

When you installed the server it asked you for an administrator password.

From the console you can login using root or admin with that password.

To configure your server remotely (same LAN), http://your-server/server-manager.

Enter : admin for the user and the password that you typed when installing SME.

Let us now how it goes.

Luis

The only thing that it asked me to do was type 'Install' before the installation began. After all the files were installed, before I get a chance to actually configure the server (the server is still nameless), it prompts for the login and password. I will try again, but I feel its a dead cause. I think I will re-try the installation process to make sure I didnt miss anything.

Thanks for your help, I will keep you updated.

Re-install worked, I don't know what I did last time.  :hammer:

Thanks again for your help.
