Hi,
I use SME 6.01-1 and 4 WinXP/2000 clients. I now use a HP Deskjet attached to the SME-server (RAW printing).
I want to buy a Canon IP4000 printer. Is there any reason why the Canon won't work using RAW printing?
Thanks,

Ask when you buy it if it can run as network printer. If it can it should work.

Hi Per,
I asked around at several suppliers (even the manufacturer Canon). But nobody can give me an answer, they just don't know. They respond by saying that I could buy a separate prinserver when it doesn't work.

I would say that if it can run on a printserver, then it runs on SME.
You could also try to ask Canon on their webpage.

Hi Per,
I did ask Canon on their webpage. They told me they didn't know and advised me to use one of their own printservers.

Hmm.... I would try it. But don't give me sh** if it wont work.

I bought the CANON IP4000, it works fine with RAW-printing.
On my Win2000 client it installs without a problem. On the WinXP clients the driver didn't clear the registry causing MsWord and MsExcel to quit working when I try to print a document from these applications.
I fixed this by deleting the directions to the networkprinter in HKEY_CURRENT_USER/printers in the registry.
It works fine now.
