Hi,
This is more curiosity than anything else so feel free to make rude gestures involving rubber gloves and the nieghbours chickens.
According to my reading of the manual, the Blades listing of installable modules will only update if one is a ServiceLink subscriber.
Two questions:
1) Does this policy also apply for critical updates to SME's core functionality? (ie. Upgrades, Offical patches etc).
2) What's the value in supplying non-servicelink users withe blades interface at all, if they can't use it for anything?
I understand the reasoning behind making the resource heavy services such as tech support, mail backup and virus scanning chargeable but it seems a little petty for another interface to the same services provided already.
For a product that prides itself on ease of use, it strikes me as a backwards step to start charging for 'extra ease of use' in addition to normal support services.
Regards,
Luke

The Blades section does show the non-ServiceLink updates. For example, Update 2 and the MP3 Jukebox show in ours right now.
They make their product available for free, and charge for the services they provide to compliment it. Updates and tested addons will show up, but not the premium options that come with a ServiceLink subscription, such as their virus scanning system or DNS hosting.
Though it's more helpful for ServiceLink subscribers, the Blades feature is still handy for the rest of us. Just click on the "Install" link next to "Update 2", and it's updated. Can't get much easier than that. =)
