Title: Best practises on Restore?
Post by: roed on January 27, 2005, 09:58:58 AM
What are the best practises on restoring a SME server? It says "Ideally, the restore should be performed on a freshly installed server." but I have had some problems doing this.

In which order should I reinstall my SME 6.01 on the same machine:
1. A full SME 6.01 install
2. Restore from my backup
3. Install extra RPMs

or

1. A full SME 6.01 install
2. Install extra RPMs
3. Restore from my backup

Which method should I use to get the best working server from a restore?

I would go with this procedure. And then restore your data. Just try and see what happens. As long as you are sure that you still have a good and working backup.
