Title: SME as PDC
Post by: npereira on October 05, 2001, 08:00:06 PM
This might be a stupid question, but here goes!!!!

Is there a way to setup the SME as a PDC so clients can login and get login credentials and shares?

Thanks

Nelson

Nelson,

Yes, SME5 can act as an PDC for your Win9x/NT4 clients.  See the online documentation.  It's very easy, you will just click a drop down box under the 'Workgroup' panel in the web manager - selecting "Yes" to the Domain master question.

PLEASE NOTE - If you have Win2k clients to connect to your SME server then you will have to upgrade Samba to version 2.2.1a.  Here is a link with instructions on this process:

Good luck!

Much better would be

...as it more closely follows the "e-smith way" of adding the machine accounts.  There's some serious work in progress on further integrating and automating the procedure.
