Is it possible to run SME 5 without firewall?
How can I turn it off?
Thanks.. /Tony

Let me know how you go with this please

configure e-smith as a dedicated server, via the admin console will accomplish this, you then have a server with no firewall, but all other services intact

But the thing is.. I need the server to act as an router and without firewall.

AFAIK - that is what you will have!

Hi!
What do you mean?
What is AFAIK ??

AFAIK : As Far As I Know.
There is a file called masq which initiates the 'firewall features' of sme/e-smith.
So technically, if you alter this file (via the templates of course) you can turn off
the firewall and just have a masq box.
Why you would want to do this I don't know, sounds risky to me, well not as risky as using Windows 98 Connection Sharing, but still risky.

Thank you Geoff Bennion for your relpy.
I only need this box to act as a router and traffic shaping, so this box will stay behind the "real" firewall and Internet router. So I need help to turn off the firewall...
How do I do it?
