Title: fsck of mirrored drives
Post by: Damian on January 31, 2005, 01:10:40 PM
I stuffed up a move of my mp3 store (22GB) on SME and now have 22GB unrecoverable disk space. df -k says the space is used but du -sk says it's not accounted for. I'm guessing I need to fsck the disk but as it's mirrored I could do some damage here. I just want to recover the space so I can copy the mp3s back on.
Anyone have experience of this ?

Have you read :

http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/contribs/dmay/smeserver/5.x/contrib/raidmonitor/raid-recovery-howto.html

If you have a mirrored pair, effectively you can repartition the drive and then add the partitions back to the array.

Normally if I lose a partition I reboot and let it fail the partition, then /sbin/raidhotadd it back. Always seems to sort itself out :-)

Thanks for the reply. I had read it but with total disk failure in mind. I have actually recovered the disk space - during a drunken late night contrib install I moved all the mp3s to the netjuke ibay and by the morning didn't remember anything about it  :pint:
Must stop this spaced-out admin thing.
