Post by: Tim on October 08, 2001, 08:44:10 PM
this is the error message when I try to restart the ftp server

# /etc/rc.d/init.d/proftpd start
Starting proftpd: host.domain.com - Fatal: Socket operation on non-socket
host.domain.com - (Running from command line? Use ServerType standalone
' in config file!)
[ FAILED ]

I was able to get proftp to restart by killing and restarting xinetd.
I'd like to know what caused the problem however.
