Hi,
So can the e-smith's dynamic ip update client update the custom DNS services of dyndns.org? If so how do you set it up? I have my domain name registered with dotster, its entered at dyndns as a custom dns zone and everything seems to be running fine accept I've gotten two errors in my messages log on the e-smith server. 1st I had my primary domain name set to tedhobson.net which is what its set to on dyndns and dotster. I got the a message saying it wasn't a fully qualified domain name so it wasn't updating dyndns. So I changed it to www.tedhobson.net. Now its saying that name isn't found on the dyndns servers? Could somebody help me with this? I would think the primary domain name on e-smith should be tedhobson.net as it is on dyndns and dotster but... apparently thats not fully qualified! Whats up with that?

The dyndns.org client, as shipped, does not support the custom DNS services, because the folks at dyndns.org require a different parameter to be set for that service than for dynamic dns (for reasons which are known only to them). If you edit /sbin/e-smith/dynamic-dns/dyndns.org and change line 20 to begin with
system=custom\&...
This should do the trick.

Hey, thanks.
That seems to have solved the problem. Pretty simple really. The guy at dyndns.org didn't have much info.
Thanks
Ted.
