Hello,
I use a IDE seagate 20/40 tarvan tape drive with 6.01, been using it for about 6 months now, and no problems.

Great, thanks for that. Now I have the second question. How do I go about installing it. The server is upa nd running already, will it recognise it at boot-up or are there any tricks? Sorry, might sounds stupid, but it is the first time for me..
thanks

Hello again,
I am pretty sure it recognised mine the next time a booted up.
The only thing you need to do is go to the server manager and the "backup or restore" section and select "configure tape backup" from the drop down. basically there is just a timer to set and a check box to enable the backup. check the email in your admin account the next day and you will get a daily report from the backup utility telling you how long it took, if it worked, etc.
good luck!

Hi,
OK, thanks a million, I must say, SME server is pretty good, I have been using it for a couple of months now and it is a good and stable platform offering more than what MS does
thanks again and best regards
